Robert M. Young Online WritingsThe Writings of Professor Robert M. Young 'Group and Institutional Dynamics' 95k I was asked to give a talk on group therapies by the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Manitoba. I felt rather diffident about this, having practiced only one sort, but I do know something about group and institutional dynamics as conceived in the Bion-Tavistock tradition. I therefore offered an outline of group therapies and drew extensively on my other writings to give a sense of the Leicester Conference model. In conclusion I reflect on the fact that the practitioners of this approach, like so many other psychoanalytic practitioners, have such distressing group and institutional relations among themselves. It was delivered on 12 January 1999.
